In this issue: Infected! I’m almost tempted to say „zombies“ but every zombie-fan would have my head for it. Speaking of which, will we nod our heads in approval or shake them violently after reading this because it was just awful? Find out in this review of “28 Days Later #6!”

There’s something wrong in the state of... well, not really a state anymore as the Queen will most likely be running around London, being infected. But technically, we’re talking about England. There’s Selena and the guys, one of which has been blinded and the other won’t give up on the blind one because they’re friends and the magic of friendship will pull them through everything... together! Awww, isn’t that sweet? Sadly, the real world rarely works like that and thus, the Infected arrive. And that’s where the mystery starts – amidst the awesome Infected running around being genuinely scary. Remember how they were all dying out at the end of the movie because it was a while later and they just starved to death? Well, there’s a whole load of them still stomping about. Why’s that? And then there is a flashback to Selena’s past, which shows us a woman so very different from what we know.

Blimey, this was another good issue. By the end of it, I felt really disappointed because there was no more. It was just getting so very good. I said in my review of issue #4 that matters keep getting worse while being already bad. What I didn’t realize then was that the Infected didn’t really play a role back then. They were around, yes, but they were little more than a scare here and there. But now they’re this uncontrollable mass of raging, highly contagious, brainless... zombies. Yes, I just called them zombies, again. But honestly, it doesn’t matter at this point. What does matter is that Selena and the other two don’t die. Granted, two of them would deserve to die and Selena probably wants to die, but we wouldn’t have a comic book, and seeing as this comic book is really good, we need more.

Declan Shalvey does a good job at drawing really terrifying Infected. Remember the movie poster we had way back in 2003? The one with the two staring eyes that seem to follow you around? Shalvey manages to capture that feeling. They don’t really follow you around, but you get reminded of that poster and the movie as a whole. It’s a rare thing that a movie comic actually manages to capture the looks of the source material. And Shalvey manages it perfectly.

One question remains though: What happened to Jim?

All in all, this book is really good, it’s got good art, an exciting story and Infected galore. You should definitely read it. It’s not only one of the best movie comics, it’s also one of the best zombie comics out there.

Good Points - Infected! They're everywhere.
- Nice, new mystery.
- Flashback to Selena's past.
- I love how the Infected don't really have any sound effects to them.
Bad Points - Over way too quickly.
